The clarinetist Andrea Götsch, who comes from South Tyrol, completed her studies with distinction at the Claudio Monteverdi Conservatory in Bolzano (R. Gander; Bachelor), at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (R. Wieser and A. Neubauer; Bachelor) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (J. Hindler and C. Zimper; Magister). She spent further study time at the Mozarteum Salzburg (A. Brandhofer and D. Zingales) and at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg (T. Holzmann). Numerous workshops with outstanding clarinettists such as M. Schorn, W. Fuchs, A. Carbonare complement her studies.

Andrea Götsch has won prizes at various national and international competitions, including the scholarship competition of the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe. She gained orchestral experience at an early age in the European Union Youth Orchestra, as an orchestral academy member of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and as a substitute in various orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg.

In 2018 she received a permanent engagement as principal clarinettist in the orchestra of the Baden Stage near Vienna, and since 2019 she has held a permanent position in the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera/Vienna Philharmonic. Andrea Götsch also teaches orchestral literature at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, performs as a soloist (e.g. with InnStrumenti, the Recreation Orchestra of the Styriarte, the Orquestra Symphonica de Castilla y Leon or the LGT Young Soloists) as well as in various chamber music constellations (e.g. Clarinet & Strings Vienna, Divinerinnen and Pentaklang Ensemble) and has gained experience in the fields of music education and mental training; she is also active as a composer and conductor.

Since 2020 Andrea Götsch has been teaching orchestral literature at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and she also organises master classes (e.g. at the Innsbruck Conservatory, in Valladolid, at the Mozarteum Salzburg, in Seoul...).

Andrea Götsch has completed workshops with Herbert Böck, Daniel Meyer and Marc Piollet and is taught privately by Eduard Kutrowatz and Christian Laimer. Her first concert as conductor will be the anniversary concert of the Musikfreunde on 25.11.2023 in the Vereinshaus Algund in South Tyrol. The programme includes the Concerto No. 1 in A minor for violoncello and orchestra by Saint-Saens, the Holberg Suite by Grieg and Mendelssohn’s First Symphony.

Andrea Götsch has been composing since 2012 and has since written works for a wide variety of instrumentations. Highlights include two commissioned compositions for the HOBLAO Woodwind Orchestra South Tyrol (Shattered Hopes and Panta Rhei), ensemble compositions such as the wind quintet „Unausgesprochen Erwähnswertes“ and the clarinet sextet „Sarcastic Wonderland“ as well as the „Lichtmesse“ as a commissioned composition for the Rainbow Choir and the setting of the Rilke poem „Über die Geduld“ for baritone, clarinet and piano.
